Why I Don’t Have A Bucket List

I don’t have a bucket list. I think the concept is a good idea, but I refuse to make one. I would rather think of something to do and then go do it. When I start making lists, that’s me writing down ideas that are never going to happen. In fact, taking time to write the list is time that could be spent on an adventure!

Bucket lists are a great way to think of cool adventures that a person wants to do. I love the idea. However, I’m more of a spur of the moment kind of girl. If I decide that I want to go to Rome, I’m going to make that happen as soon as possible. People need happiness and adventure in life. Spending time and money on physical things instead of memories and adventures is something that I just can’t get on board with. I want to see the world. I want to take trips. I want to explore this awesome Earth. There are so many places that I haven’t been and so many things that I haven’t seen. I just want to go do them. That’s why I don’t have a bucket list. I put all my efforts into what I want to do, not making hypothetical lists. I need to do things now. The best experiences are the ones that aren’t planned. Planning gets in the way of the actual adventure. Overthinking causes so many cancellations.

Just go for it. Take the vacations. Take the adventures. Go places that you’ve always dreamed of going. And do it now. Don’t wait. Don’t write it on some list that may get lost or pushed back. Do it now! You never know what tomorrow holds, so just go now!

This may seem like a bit of a rant and quite random, but I often get asked why I take so many trips and why I’m always planning adventures. I like to live in the present and not the future. It’s what makes me happy, and that’s what matters.
